I applaud Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman for her appearance at President Barack Obama’s arrival at McCarran International Airport last week and her respect for the position of the president, not the party or future elections. For the rest of our federal, state, county and city politicians: Shame on you!
Do you really want us to respect you after you have set such a fine example of how to respect the highest position in our great country by not showing up?
It is all about greed, super PAC monies, handouts or what’s in it for you. This is a fine example of what to expect from our children growing up in such a society. Each and every one of you should be grateful we elected you in the first place to represent the people. Don’t count on my vote in the future.
Mayor Goodman is an independent, where were the Democrats? (It is understood that Republicans would not be there.)
I do not agree with saying "shame" on those who did not show up. I merely find it interesting.

FACT: The President of the United States of America is an elected representative of the People.
No matter what we THINK of the man, we should show RESPECT for the position of President of our nation and People.
We should also show respect for the flag of our country as well.

In the Tea/Republican Party universe, they only participate in only their own causes. And it is MANDATED they go out of their way to snub this President.
But they don't understand something.
Governor Sandoval was elected by the people to represent the Sovereign State of Nevada.
He should have been there to greet President Obama.
TO REPRESENT US. Party politics has nothing to do with courtesies.
But no, he couldn't.
He don't represent Nevada.
He believes to his soul that he represents Jones Vargas only. And his dumb political party that runs interference for them all the time.
Don't believe me? Look at the lengths he goes to in order to make sure mining don't pay their fair share of taxes here in Nevada. Mining that is represented by Jones Vargas. A law firm and lobbyist firm that Governor Sandoval worked for before he became Governor.
I say he works for them STILL. They are joined at the hip.
He is our representative. But he don't represent us. He thumbed his nose at President Obama. Pretty much the same as Governor Brewer did in Arizona, but she had the cojones to show up to do it, at least.
THAT is the guy you people voted into office. Don't look at me. I didn't vote for him. I think he's a bum.
President Obama comes to Las Vegas, but Governor Sandoval hides somewhere.
THAT is who you people elected.
We need to get rid of him.

Colin, yes, Sandoval embarassed us yet again. He embarassed us when he endorsed Rick Perry. He hides in Carson City and only comes out when his employers (not us) need him.

Maybe they were out looking for second and third part time jobs.
Maybe they were not invited? Unless the letter writer has the itinerary and invite list the letter could be completely wrong and misguided. It could also be some can not simply drop what they are doing and fly from Carson city to Las Vegas for a photo op. This in itself probably saved some taxpayer money, note the president did not. They have Nat gas vehicles in Washington DC he could have looked at and gave his speech standing next to them.

Just my (Star) opinion, but I think that President Obama might need to shake things up with his PR/media people that are suppose to be working FOR him.
